XH558 Farewell Tour (Southern), 11th October 2015
Today was the Southern part of XH558's farewell tour. The tricky decision was where to view for interesting photographic possibilities - in the end settled for 2 bites of the cherry, firstly at Rutland Water as XH558 headed South, which turned out to be a lovely flypast with a nice dip of the wings. Then headed up to Newark Air Museum for her last calling point before landing back at Doncaster. The idea here was to try to get a shot of XH558 flying overhead static Vulcan XM594 ............ which just about worked. Left the long lens in the bag today to try to get more panoramic shots to convey the flypast nature of proceedings rather than the close-up displays at airshows - however we were treated to a mini-display at Newark over XM594 !! it was a very sad sight to see XH558 disappear into the distance - maybe for the last time .................
